Tesla Motors believes in” at-home” service is best for pricey electric cars. The company announced a Tesla Mobile Service Rangers Program which takes care of annual service and any other repairs. The Rangers can diagnose problems remotely even before driving the service vehicles. No word leaked on whether they wear morph or brightly colored outfits. Tesla says that cues from “experienced retailers” like Geek Squad and Zappos and Roadster owners helped materialize the Rangers idea. In the near future, anywhere the Roadsters are sold, the Ranger service will be made available.
The service is not cheap. It costs $1 / round-trip mile and a minimum charge of $100. But you must be able to afford the car, then it’s not a big hardship. The cost of Roadster in Banff, Anchorage, Honolulu and other locations, which the press release states. It will be cheaper to buy 2 Roadsters just in case one breaks down.
